EtherCAT Technology
EtherCAT Technology is the open real-time Ethernet network originally developed by Beckhoff. EtherCAT sets new standards for real-time performance and topology flexibility. Also, EtherCAT is the open, internationally standardized, high speed Ethernet networking technology particularly suited for industrial automation, test and measurement applications, and embedded systems. The main focus during the development of EtherCAT was on short cycle times (≤ 100 µs), low jitters for accurate synchronization (≤ 1 µs). The EtherCAT Technology Group(ETG) keeps EtherCAT technology open for all potential users. It brings EtherCAT device manufacturers, technology providers, and users together to further the technology. The number of ETG members is around 3,800, and among them Asian members account for 37% of the total.
